Mental Health Awareness
Mental health affects everyone differently. Some people struggle with their feelings and may experience depression, stress, anxiety or isolation. Mental health can occur for a variety of reasons; stress from everyday life, loss of loved one, money problems and so on. The symptoms can last for a few weeks or for years.
Every year, 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem. Did you know that Deaf people are twice as likely to experience mental health issues compared to hearing people?
Clinical Lead/Clinical Psychologist Sarah Powell from SignHealth, the Deaf Health Charity, will be giving a presentation about their service for deaf people: 'BSL Healthy Mind' and what support is available. The presentation will be delivered in British Sign Language and there will be a Q & A session afterwards. All ages welcome and light refreshments will be provided.
